Sales Shopping - I finally have some YSL!!!

So I picked up this beauty when I was shopping in the sales a few weeks ago - Yves Saint Laurent's Rouge Volupte Perle in Spellbinding Violet. This was a shade in their Autumn look collection from 2011, and is described by YSL as being:

For sensual, full lips with a subtle satin shine. Balancing colour and shine, the rose gold micro-pearl enriched formula spills across the lips to create a pearlescent shimmer. Lips instantly feel soft and supple and are drenched in gorgeous colour with a satiny-pearl finish. ROUGE VOLUPTÉ PERLE comes in a palette of pearly shades that conjure up the magic of the East; browns, purples and bronzes send out slivers of light to gift-wrap lips in a satin ribbon of colour. SPF 15.

Full price this lipstick retails at around £23.50 but I picked it up for an amazing £9.80 in the sale. Spellbinding Violet is a pretty dramatic shade, but when I swatched it at the counter I just fell in love! The shimmer and pigmentation are gorgeous. Here's a few pics.

Not only is this a fantastic lipstick, but the casing is just beautiful. The white inside the casing has a gorgeous perlescent sheen and it just looks that bit more sophisticated than most of the other lipsticks I own. (sorry the case is upside down!)
Bullet without flash
And with flash.
The picture above of the bullet with flash is a much more accurate representation of the colour. It's so dark and a lovely royal purple shade. I think you could get away with this in the day if you wore it with a very basic natural face, and of course you could glam it up for a striking evening look too.

I took a few swatches for you too.

Unfortunately I couldn't get my camera to get the colour to come up perfectly, but this was the best I could do. It is a lot more purple on the lips and a lot more accurate in colour to the picture of the bullet with flash.

I absolutely love this new addition to my collection and have worn it on a few occasions to work already! It does really highlight any dryness on your lips, so a good scrub beforehand is advised, but it isn't drying, and I love that is has an SPF15 too :)

Have you bought anything exciting in the sales?

  3. This lipstick is gorgeous!!! Our prestige cosmetics in the US are NEVER discounted! The best they'll do is through in a gift with purchase, mix of cosmetics and skincare which most I can never use because it's not for skintone or matches my skin colour. GBP 9.80 for this lipstick??? AWESOME! Hope you'll stop by and would you be interested in following each other?
